KEBS extends Remote Inspections

The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has announced that remote inspections are to be extended for a further 90 days to address ongoing restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 31st March, KEBS had announced that, for a period of three months, remote inspections were permissible in areas where physical inspections were restricted due to the COVID-19 crisis.

As the pandemic continues to present challenges in accessing factories and ports of loading for the physical inspection of goods destined to Kenya, KEBS has taken the initiative to extend the validity of remote inspections for a further 90 days as of 1st July 2020.

Cotecna supports KEBS’s decision. Our remote inspection tool enables exporters and importers to continue to ensure the conformity of their products throughout this crisis and ultimately protect the health and safety of Kenyan citizens from substandard or fraudulent goods that would otherwise not be inspected.
